With each pick up of a placenta, in the process of encapsulation, and delivery of a client’s capsules, tincture and artwork I realized something. I realized there had to be an even better, even safer way I could be doing this.

How does one improve upon their practices that are already considered safe by so many and make them the safest? For myself, for my family, and for our clients who trust us to make their placenta safe for consumption.

I see firsthand the risks that others are taking; I see so many women at risk and see room for improvement. There is so much room for doubt in a client’s thoughts about this process and I thought often about how I could help make a woman’s transition into motherhood a smooth and more confident one.

Every time I read or see these pictures I think, my God it’s amazing any woman trusts someone to transport or prepare their placenta for consumption. I wonder how many of them question the process and handling and possibility of mix up.

There has to be a better way, a way that allows the woman no room for doubt or worry at such a vulnerable time in her life.

Then it hit me, like a Mac truck, processing in the client’s home would be the way to remove those “what if” questions. The encapsulation specialist would still be responsible, as she always has been, for proper disinfecting, sanitation, and handling once she is at the client’s home, but doing it in the client’s home removes all other possibility of doubt and ensures that it’s hers and is a placenta safe for consumption.

At a time in woman’s life when so much is happening and changing within her, emotionally, physically, and mentally, removing any doubt about the safety of her placenta being encapsulated is what we believe is best. We stand beside that! Best for her emotional and physical well-being, best for the encapsulation specialist, and best for the family of both parties.

I know that one sure fire way to keep myself from evolving and improving is to say, “Well that is the way we have always done it.”

So, in January, I put my thinking outside of the box cap on and went to work. I started creating a plan. It was no easy task. I hit roadblocks that I pounded down into speed bumps. I had to figure out a few things that were never needed before. Like, how do I transport everything in a way that is cost effective, efficient and productive? I would need to sit down with my attorney and figure out wording for all new contracts and change my online forms. In addition there were other concerns and logistics that needed to be thought out. “Placenta safe for consumption”, was about to go to a whole new level of safe!
